Heya Balthazar, I was just looking at your site and wondering what you use
to make your fake rocks.
Also, I just remembered a scene in the Shawshank Redemption. Remember the
clues Morgan Freeman had to follow to find out where his friend went. :)
that's the feeling I get every time i hunt down a letterbox. :) A feeling
of mystery and wonder.

So far I have used a material, Amaco's Sculptamold, that is a
combination of plaster of Paris and paper mache'. The other is an
oven-firing clay (fires at 350 F), Ovencraft Clay. I had used a spray
paint that is a faux granite and then using a clear spray sealer.
I am now going to pour streaks of color directly into the Sculptamold
as I mix it up. I have a black, tan, and a rather shiny metallic
color.
The best rocks are rocks. Featherstone, which is pumice, and
traventine (very loosely held together silicon-feeling rock) can be
hollowed out with a drill first and then an auger bit on the drill.
Be sure to have eye, hand, and respiratory protection on when you do
this.
Thanks for looking and thanks for the questions,

A co worker told me that some of the characters on the soap opera "All My
Children" were in the woods letterboxing on a recent episode.
